Anybody have the slightest idea on how to remove the y axis lead screw on this? It is a G.Dufour 51 I believe. I had the knee off but put it back on today so I could move it up and down easier. I have/have had everything else off but I cant figure this lead screw out. It has all the gears inside the knee that allows for multi or simultaneous power feed from a single motor, but I'm not using any of it. I have all the gears loose on the shaft but cant get it to move.

Reason why, is I need to replace the bearings on the front and would like to take the extra gears from inside since I wojt be using them.

The shaft does not tie into the back of the casting.

There are other shafts in there behind the oilers on the front, but I dont know how to get them out either. nothing is secured from the backside of the knee. I double checked before putting it back on this morning.

Looks like a similar setup to my WB Knight #2. Mine had a set screw holding in a... I am drawing a blank on the name of the part. I am gonna see if I have a pic from it.

So directly behind the handle you can see the threaded part I am talking about. My Knight is old enough that it didnt use actual bearings, so there is no bearing cap. This part is what captured the screw to the "knee" of my machine.

Maybe this didnt help and could be way off, but I figured it looked kinda similar to mine.

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately, it doesnt appear that anything unthreads from the front on mine like that.

I think the only way is for the screw to come out the front, but I have all the gears loose and cant get it to budge forward. I'll keep trying
