Neglected 60gal compressor repair+testing (Quincy QE-5 1989)

There was a small (25 gallon) compressor explosion about a mile from my house a year or two back. Nobody was home when it happened, but it blew the roof off of his garage and added new windows to two walls.

I also had an ASME tanked compressor from 1989. My borescope showed the same situation, and I could not get comfortable with it. I bought a Quincy QT-5, and couldn't be happier.

To close the loop on this thread -- I did end up buying a new Quincy (qt-54) and selling the one that I repaired. I was very transparent to the buyer about the inspections and tests I had done and why I was selling it (not comfortable with tank age even though it passed my hydrostatic test)

You can see more about how the new compressor got installed and setup at https://www.hobby-machinist.com/thr...essor-install-valve-switching-contactor.97499
