New Group Created - California Machinists Group

Do a pm to Bob Korves, or talvarez or Ulma doctor in this thread. I'm out of town and hard to get contact/location info together.
I started a conversation with Ulma Doctor. I assume that is the same as a PM.

hello, I have joined this group also and would like to attend a meeting. I live 4 hours away so I would need lots of notice please include me in your meetings. bill

To Ulma Doctor: Mike what is that green mill on the right side of the photo? Looks like a horiz/vert? What aminal is that?

Hi Mark
The horizontal/vertical mill is a Trans World Steel VHM-728
Tiawanese manufacture late 70's early 80's construction
R8 spindle 3.5" travel
4 speeds in vertical
6 speeds in horizontal
9x26 table
One shot lubrication
Manual control only
115v operation

Wow neat! I have a Trans World Steel 4x6 bandsaw, probably same vintage, weighs a freaking ton, fixing up when I get to it...
I'd love to find one of those mills tho., a rare bird

Not all early taiwan stuff was good- I have a 70s taiwan drill press and it's absolute trash. Drills holes, that's about the best you can say about it LOL
