That looks like one serious lathe A good size I like it gears all look pretty good a little bit of surface rust in a few places. a little spray with a good moisture displacer / lubricant like Inox MX3 would get rid of most of it. I use this on everything even use it as a general purpose cutting fluid , also works great with aluminium and stainless as well a steel. and will keep your lathe clean and shiny I also use the sister product Lanox MX 4 on items that are being stored as a rust preventer for long term storage.
Thanks for the tip Bob, I'll give it a go.

I got her fired up yesterday! Has a few bugs but I think I can get them sorted pretty easily.
One is the main electrical contactor chatters when starting it up, a tap with your rubber boot and it holds in fine. The machine itself is very, very quiet (for the size). All the gears work smoothly which is great. I noticed the feed screw from the transmission below was binding up, worked out the oilers were not working correctly. Soldered some of them over and redrilled, works beautifully now. I do however get a little gear noise from there, not sure if it's anything to worry about though. I certainly can't see any issues but the noises sounds like it's coming from further in, out of sight.

Power feed to the main carraige and cross slide works perfect and is very strong, I can't stop it by hand so I think the worm gear must be in good shape.

Does anyone know where I can get an oiler for the 'grease fittings' all over the unit?

Cheers

Dave.
