New project for pidjones - a Triumph this time

Yes, you can still get most of the parts, or repo's .....Love the Yamaha TT500's! I have a 1982 Honda 500 XLS and a 1975 Husky 360 CRGP bought new from Malcolm Smith's shop in Riverside ;)

"How do you stop that thing?"

Yup, same as the Norton, 1st gear is up and rest down from there!

Here are some photos from the tear-down so far. Beside about a pint and a half of water and muck in the crank sump and primary (none in the gearbox), the primary outer cover, and inner cover had orange high-temp RTV instead of gaskets. The oil pump gasket was glued on both sides with RTV. The sump gasket was glued on both sides with RTV. Happily, the water does not seemed to have reached the crank, and the only corrosion that I have seen is to the aluminum sump cover (so far).

I hate it when folks cut corners like that... is it so hard to install the proper gasket?? Goodness...

I get using a little bit of Yamabond/Hondabond sealant for those small nicks on the surface... but not what I just saw on those photos o_O

Please, if you see someone using high temp RTV on the crankcase of a motorcycle - put them out of my misery!
