I recently bought a 745 that needs some freshening up, as it sat outside under a covered carport for sometime before i got it. and i believed it spent most of its life in the maintenance department of oak farms dairy or so i was told
x axis is buttery smooth but i still need to pull the table to check out the saddle which y axis is very stiff. the z axis shaft was also broken at some point and will need some attention.

*any help pulling the power feed gears off the lead screw, as the casting is too close to the back of the gear to get a traditional gear puller behind it?

*ive ordered a n-03 socket for the lock nuts on the left hand side, i included a pic for the next guy as i wasn't familar with them

*a pic of the broken z shaft that i had to drill to start disassembly

*any idea where the set screw is that holds in the z shaft? i may have to wait til i get the table and saddle off and see if i can access it from the top

i realize these are pretty rookie questions, but i hadn't been able to find them addressed so far, and any insight will be greatly appreciated

I want to say that gear is held on with a set screw. But don’t hold me to it. I’ll look through the pics on my phone.

Root, if you're referring to the driven power feed gear on the x axis screw i cleaned it up pretty good and I don't see one, IMG_2989.jpgIMG_2990.jpg

eventually ill have to tear into the head as right now it leaks like a sieve, and is stuck in back gear, but for right now i just want to fix the saddle and get the bottom end dialed in

You are probably right. I broke mine down into pieces and moved it into the basement in November and I can’t really remember the details. Other than I slid the table off and then was able to run the leadscrew out by turning the handle on the right hand side.
