I think we think alike this is exactly what I'm doing just removing loose paint and smoothing things out I took apart most of the machine just to get it good clean from all the old grease, I bought a 7.5 hp 230v 3ph motor locally and ordered a gold series RPC panel from WNY now waiting for a warmer weather so I can start painting it )

Bondo 907 glazing putty (http://bondo.com/bondo-glazing-spot-putty-907.html) works great for filling in the nick and chips in the old paint. It's like thick paint, dries quick and there is no mixing involved. Krud-Kutter is the best product that I've found for getting through decades of machine shop oil and grease on old paint.

Thanks for the tips I will definitely buy that Bondo, I have to locate Krud-kutter we here in Canada are not as well supplied as you guys...lol, I'm still waiting on the panel- hit a little snag, I wanted a meters on the panel to see each leg of the power being in the same range and they didn't have the meters so it should be here next week,

My problem is that I have too may little project started + regular life gets busy, plus it is still cold up here to do any painting, now once the panel gets in I have to put together that RPC .. Ypu know how it goes thank God this is just a hobby for me..
