What a wonderful treasure of information !

In my search for information, manuals, and parts for my newly acquired INDEX Model 40 Vertical Mill, the search engine brought me here. :)
Along with the Model 40 I'm bringing back to life (in that sub-forum), as I scrolled through the vast listing of machines, there was South Bend !
I've a South Bend, 10" Quick Change Lathe, Model 10 L, Catalog 8187 AN; the front way shows: 167269 L.Q.R. and the rear way has: UB 103.
The machine has served me well for many years and, I'm thinking when I get the INDEX back in service, the South Bend will get refurbished too.
I read about a lubricant, felt wipers, and manual "kit" for doing that, but the post was several years old; any current information ?

Just saying "hello" and have lots to read... Don

You might find some of this interesting. It's a rebuild I did on my 10L.
I knew nothing about the lathe when I purchased it but learned as I went along. There's some info on how I changed the felts.

If you upgrade your membership, you will have access to a downloads section with LOADS of information on the South Bend.

Hi Chips good to have u aboard, we have several model 40 owners here
Nice South Bend too the 8187 is a good model; the "toolroom" version IIRC
