Does anyone know how to reproduce that crinkle effect that you used to find on old camera, binoculars and so on?

I ask as I am in the process on making an optical cantering device in, mainly, aluminium and I would rather avoid the anodising route as this strikes me as sketchy as well as messy.

It used to be available in a spray can from GC electronics, but other people make it too I'm sure

Thanks for that. I very nearly bought some from the States. With shipping multiplying the cost by a factor of three. Luckily, I spotted it. I’ll try to remember to post the results, should it all work out.
