I would like to know what oils everyone uses for the mill do you use spindle oil on all of the ball fittings on the head by the quill autofeed? How about the ball fittings next to the ways? Just squirt way oil in there? I can get pictures for better examination and questioning.

20wt non detergent seems to be a pretty good in-between for general use

I do have spindle oil and way oil that i can use. I just want to make sure i am using them at the right locations. As i said there is like 5 ball fittings on the head 3 of them are right onto the feed drive for the quill. I just want to oil and do everything right. No in between.

I have a 8530 also. If it's new to you I suggest you take the quill feed apart and check what all is in there. Mine had swarf in the box with grease. Not a good combo. I use way oil in there.....20wt in the spindle.

when i got the mill everything was run through already from the guy i bought it from. He had all the ways rescraped. If i can use spindle oil then i will use that but idk which fitting will be for which.
