I just bought my first mill.

What oil should I use for the ways.

I have way oil and Spindle oi for my lathe and Mobil circulating oil for my mill head.

Thank you,
Dale

Mobil Vactra No. 2 is the go-to for way oil. McMaster sells gallons for $30. I've had a hard time finding smaller quantities so I have enough for years to come.

Mobil Vactra No. 4 is a more viscous way oil which will cling better to vertical way surfaces, especially on machines without central oiling or flaked ways.

Vactra #4 is really too heavy for light machine tools, I got a barrel of it years ago, and thinned it with light machine oil; all gone now ----
Vactra #2 is the go to oil for most machinery, including those with circulating oil/hydraulic systems, I use it in my B&S Micromaster surface grinder and most all of my other machines for way lubrication.
