Hello Hobby-Machinist Forum!

I am new here and I am no machinist or even a Hobby Machinist, although I do think it is very interesting! I am here trying to get a Ballpark idea on the price of the Mill posted. It was my uncles who was a WW2 Navy Vet and a Master Mechanic with Boats and Cars. He passed a couple years ago and his wife (my great aunt) has someone interested in purchasing it. If anyone would have any idea of a Price that this would go for, please throw out any information or ranges you can. It is from American Machinery CO. out of Los Angeles got from the Webber plant, maybe 25+ Years old.

Thank you so much in advance for taking the time to read and respond! Wish I would have learned more from my uncle, he was a Master at this stuff! Very smart and talented Mechanic.

Get the motor wiring cleaned up, and have it under power.
LA area? 2K maybe?
The members in the SoCal region can correct me.

$2k is kinda high IMHO. There are several Bridgeport locally from $1200 and up depending on condition and accessories.

on the plus side:
-Baldor is a respected motor name
-the mill looks fairly clean
-all three handles are present
-there is a vise of some type
-the belt looks almost new

a couple things could ding you on the price:
-the motor capacitors hanging out and electrical box missing the cover
-the insulation that I assume is from the ceiling; hopefully the mill is not in danger of being dripped on!

Other accessories could also boost the price if in good condition:
-boring head
-end mills
-table t-nut clamp set

If you are going to have it under power for inspection be sure to lubricate first!

I will refrain on an estimate, my dollar and equipment market are completely different!

It also looks as though at some point it was spray painted to make it look nicer. That doesn't make it a bad buy,
but I would look closely at condition.

If you get the whole shababang... mill plus lots of tooling then 2k is fair. But I’m talking about a lot of tooling. Not just end mills. Fixtures, collets, end mills, 1-2-3 blocks....etc. But 2k for just the mill is high in my opinion

Ok 2k is high. Thank you. Yes, i understand that bridgeport is the NAME brand of mills. This is definitely not that. So under 1200 even? Thank you!
