Old Motor

By any chance, was that motor built in New Mexico around July or August of 1945? Or does it date further back, like to Hero of Alexandria? :)
Very pretty, in any case!

LOL and how do you take it apart? Is it like a motor in a bottle?

F.S. Betz made medical equipment, I wonder if it may have been designed as an explosion proof motor for use in oxygen rich environments. How big is it?

Explosion proof- that sounds very likely since it looks like a brush type motor- is the rpm listed there on the plate? It's variable speed correct?

Looking at the eyelet makes me think it must hang from overhead and might be from a flexible shaft, rotary tool, like a dentists drill?
