Old Vernon Shaper

Palmgren made a low profile 4" vise that might be a good fit on that shaper. Shaper vises are hard to come by in any form, you may have a years long wait to find the proper one for your shaper. Also, from what I have seen on Ebay, people think they are worth thier weight in gold, as well.

I never found a Vernon vise. I searched all over the Web for a suitable vise. None that I found had a swivel base. I initially bought a 12" shaper vise off Ebay. It was way too heavy for my needs. I did find a guy that sold kits so I could make my own. It was a very well documented 6" vise kit and came out very nice. Good used ones with a swivel base are really hard to come by.
If you have the cash to get a new one, you might try these guys.

Thanks Randy. I did see in the documents (links above) that the Sheldon Vise was 7", which is kind of an "odd" size. My shaper came with a 4" vise, similar to an Atlas. It will do for now until I decide whether to "take the $$$ plunge" or when a unicorn delivers a Sheldon or Vernon along with those Hen's Teeth I have been looking for...……........LOL
