I have a special sickness for purchasing old machining books. I picked up these 4 a few weeks ago out of a larger collection that included machining books, some photography books, and some other engineering books. I can buy the rest of the collection for what I think is a reasonable price. These 4 books have the following dates in them, which I assume is when they were last printed:

  1. Cincinnati Milling Machine: 1919
  2. Fellows Gear: 1917
  3. Running a Milling Machine: 1941
  4. Lathe Work: 1886

My question is, is there any interest from others in buying these older books if I pick up the collection? I hate to see them sit there but if there is no/little interest I may pass on them. Not sure I want to start doing eBay.

Does a bear s--t in the woods? The Colvin & Stanley series are very good. I think Colvin was the editor of American Machinist. I learned patternmaking from old books, and generally they are well written and an easy read.

Here are pics of some of the other books I didn't get yet. Probably going tomorrow. There are more than in these pics.
