This handle is off of a clipper concrete saw. If you look. At the pics you will see that originally was splined in to the cast alum. Crank part.
Well it s all wallered out. Not sure that’s a word but what ever.the spines part spins inside of the handle. Made that way.
I thinking of drilling and taping the end of the splined shaft and boring and bushing the alum piece
It’s for a friend or I would have bought new.
Any ideas? Thanks scruffy Ron.5EB031B9-C04B-4913-8ABF-EF3A5DBFE5D6.jpegDDF8DC87-1C58-492F-B857-8AC03F06F974.jpeg37114F64-35EC-468E-9AFE-ECF5D89D26C2.jpeg8D8B7C1D-8CB1-4D77-A0D5-466088D1DBD5.jpeg6555E18A-E859-42D0-999A-E6FF3321DF05.jpeg

The brass piece is so I hold it vertical in a v block and hold the bottom with vise grips ?
Thanks scruffy ron

Hi Scruffy!
you could make another handle from steel and braze it in place

Do this in 2 or more places;
Put it together, drill down between the 2 parts, making 1/2 of the hole in each part (with a 1/8" drill for example). Drive a roll pin, or dowel pin of the proper size (1/8" in this example) in each hole.

It looks to me more like knurling than a true spline; a few whacks with a cold chisel, to raise more metal,
would be my first cut on a repair. You might also be able to shrink the hole, by
making a kerf and drawing it in with a cross-screw. The aluminum looks like there's enough
excess that it wouldn't weaken it.

No I,m sure it’s splines. The parts can be bought for a little over a 100.00. I bought this saw on a on line auction for my friend. Picked it up yesterday. Only gave 300.00 and it runs like a dream 13 hp Honda and hydrostatic drive.
My thought was bore the alum piece ,Bush it and drill and pin it. But I,m open to suggestions.
Thanks scruffy ron

Why not just drill thru the block on the side and thru the spline and use a roll pin to hold it in . Bush it of course first.
