I lived and worked in that area back in the '80s.
One defense contractor where I was at, had secondary/auxiliary 'shops' (plants?) setup for the manufacture of ordnance.
Those machines were never used, just maintained. I wonder what ever happen to them?
The company and the facility at Van Nuys airport are now gone from google maps and it was a large facility.
 
Haha! We don't get much of it arou d here so I gots to share them when I see em. Most of the time people ask for way too much money even for junk.

Ah Van Nuys is not far from me. I was born in the SFV.
