Hi guys! I’m putting together an old Clausing lathe that I got from my my grandfather. It has an old Peerless 1/2 hp motor that can either be wired for 110 or 220. It is single phase. It has 6 leads coming out of it which are labeled: T1,T2,T3,T4, C1,C2. I would like to run it for 220. I am not an electrical expert by any means and am look for some advice on which leads go to power, ground, and neutral. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

For 220 try this:

Let's call our incoming 220V power L1 and L2

Connect C2+T2+T3
Connect L1 + T4
Connect L2 + T1 + C1

If the direction is wrong:

Move wire C1 so that you have

L1 + T4 + C1
L2 + T1
You should also have a green ground wire connected to the frame of the motor, there may not have been one originally but you should add one now.

If you are only running the motor and have no 110V stuff (like a light) you do not need a neutral.

Clueless's advice is good and should work. In some cases the windings are numbered in a weird order but you'll find out soon enough- it either won't run or will run poorly. If that's the case, post back and we can advise you. Be safe.
