I am not sure I like the way they attached the cat to the generator though...

But that only delivers 1 CP, or 1 Cat Power, which is equivalent to 1/100th of a horsepower. To be able to achieve an output of usable amounts of power, you would need to harness about 500 cats - which I'm all for, by the way!
 
So 1 CP is 7.5 watts? I can't imagine that being easily scaled up to 1 MW. And you still have to feed and house all those cats. I think this is what has been holding back this technology. Not the physics.
