I needed to make a 1-3/4 inch arbor to hod a piece i’ playingwith. So I went over to my boltbins a found a nice 1-1/8 nut, that’ll work. Looked the machinist hand book after checking the threads, 12 by the way
Major diameter 1 inch, so away I go I kept advancing the compound .010 at a time and checking the nut for fit
After about 5 passes I went back to my messy bench to re measure the I’d of the nut. Here’s the picture look real close.
Thanks scruffy Ron
Needless to say i’d Cut the threads so undersized that theirs no 1-1/8 for that arbor 1 1 inch will be just fine and i’ll Make sure I have a right hand thread nut to checkit5FB8D76E-4B1A-4E16-9E7F-640578920078.jpeg

Did you say LEFT HAND!
I have a bunch of left hand taps I have to keep segregated from the normal one's. They don't work very good when you grab one to tap a right handed threaded hole. They just sit there and grind!

Thanks for sharing,

Ken

Yep, if you look closely at the pic their is a arrow. No idea where it came from . Lesson learned check odd fasteners closely
Thanks ron
