Does the foot brake actually apply controlled braking ( like through a disk brake or something). or does it just shut down the machine????

It does both, cuts power to the spindle (acts like an e-stop) & brakes the spindle with drum type shoes inside the spindle pulley. I can actually adjust the gap between hitting the micro switch & applying brake pressure. On mine I have it set where I can slightly press the pedal & it will cut the spindle power, then if I press a bit more the brake will then engage.

Yes, it works as Darkzero mentioned. FWIW, the main belt sheave is a small brake drum with two small brake shoes in it.

Thanks guys.

I'm kicking myself in the ass right now....

Wish I would of acted sooner....

I guess I'll be waiting. That foot brake seems like a big plus.

Especially since no others out there offer it in that size machine for the $$

Reason I asked cause I found another company that sells these but they don't appear to be of the same quality

Plus when I asked about the foot brake they said. " Yeh it's easy just mount the pedal to a switch ". ..
Thought I reAd somewhere that it had a actuall break

Cool. We'll I better stop looking when the real deal is right here in front of me. Gonna have to drop a deposit!!
