I finally got my PM30-MV delivered! Here are some pictures. In the time waiting for the machine to arrive, I actually bought a new house, so now I have to re-run 220v in my new garage. But for now, it’s out of the crate and on the bench.

I see that you got some big big help moving the machine into place! ☺

I see a pallet underneath the crate. Did the crate arrive on a pallet, or did you put it up on the pallet somehow in order to get the legs of the engine hoist underneath?

Ha! Yes my 4 year old daughter insisted on helping.

The crate was on the pallet from the delivery company. They rolled it right into my garage when the delivered it. I had to cut some of the pallet away with a saws-all and wedge it up in order to allow the engine hoist to run underneath (so I could get the hook directly over the mill). Otherwise, lifting it was really easy.

My vise arrived today. Went with the Kurt DX4. Got it in two days from MCS for $540 shipped! That blue paint looks great on the PM30. I don’t have much experience with machining vises, but from a general tool perpective, it looks and feels very nice!

I'm mostly very impressed with the shipping company QMT used (Ward). My mill was sent from OH to NC last night around close of business, and about 7:30 this morning I got a phone call to schedule delivery today. Got here just after lunch.

But the driver sure wished his company had put it on a pallet when they loaded it on the truck, because his skid-steer didn't fit the crate; they must have used a different skid-steer or a forklift to load the truck. I ended up getting out lots of spare ends of 2x4s as he used the skid-steer to jack the crate up until he could slip the skid-steer under it. We unloaded it on a few stacked 2x4s to make it easier for me to move it into place when I'm ready. ☺

I haven't uncrated it yet because I figure it's safer fully crated while I move it around the house and in the basement door. Can't wait to finish prep there!
