POTD- PROJECT OF THE DAY: What Did You Make In Your Shop Today?

After wrestling with the rebuild of the headstock of my DF-1237 lathe for a bit, I managed to get it dialed in today.
New belts, regular B30 for the motor to countershaft and Powertwist from countershaft to the spindle.
Took some time to get the bearing preload right but in the end it paid off.

This is some mystery metal salvaged from trailer hitch equalizer bars.

It was such a pain indicating the cheap tilting milling table because the mounting ears were so uneven , just rough casting Took about .065 to clean up the surfaces . After that it was much easier.
Another thing now added to my to-do list!

Meat tenderizers and crab mallets are a must Tom !
Crab Mallet: I’m beginning to doubt you really live where you say you do. Crab Knife:

Crack the shell with the heavy handle while holding the blade lightly, the reverse to pry & pick.

I USE a knife for the crabs . The mallet is for keeping every ones hands off MY crabs . :cussing:
That’s why there’s a point on the knife.

However, at my stage in life I just go for pre-picked (Eastern Shore if possible) crab meat to make my own crab cakes; the only whole crabs I get/eat are soft shells - when I can get decent sized ones.
