POTD- PROJECT OF THE DAY: What Did You Make In Your Shop Today?

The boss wanted a stick man for the yard. It will hold a bird feeder and a wind chime?
Our stick man is married :). It will turn his finger green eventually-wink.

I needed a better workstation for working on the model kits... Took the hardware from an old desk and made a larger area to work. I did transfer over the keyboard setup just in case I needed in the future...

First words out of the mouth of my wife when she saw it... "That is not staying there, right? You are moving it to the garage or when the shop is done?"

Me: Don't worry honey, I will make it look better... :rolleyes:

Thank you. I think it is the pieces of 2"x6" I used to raise the shelf in the rear, that she is not too fond of... but I wanted to use the hardware from the old desk to be able to remove that shelf if needed. I will dress that up with something to hide its looks...

Round over the edges of the 2x and spray-paint them to match the rest of the desk. She probably won't mind then... ;)
 
Made a special use puller for removing the 1 3/4" pins that hold the front axle steering knuckle on my MF 4x4 tractor. Cut slice off some mystery metal I had. After working it on the lathe I think it's 4140 or similar. The next piece was made from an old chunk of drill pipe. Didn't really need to be this pretty, but I was having a good time, and learning a few things in the process. My first attempt at a drive screw didn't hold up so I tried a new approach on the next one, and it proved successful, with the addition of some help from the rosebud. Those pins had been in there for 37 years, and had it in mind to stay right where they were. Next step is to get the steering knuckle set up on the mill and bore the wallowed out tie rod taper, and turn a straight plug with a new inner taper to press into the bored hole.
