Today i spend even more time in the big garage, i did manage to finish sending all 9 wheels, this wasn't easy at all, i've managed to send off my fingerprints on both hands from holding the send paper, then i moved to applying body filler, sending and getting the wheel arch in shape, i also started on the trunk lid, wich had a suprase installed for me. The gas shock that i install about a week ago decided it doesn't like the cold weather more than me, so it exploded and got oil all over the floor and roof, you can see i did manage to do 3 coats of body filler on the wheel arch with sending in between every coat, i'm glad to be finished with sending on the wheels, unfortunately the hardener for my clear coat is hard so i'll need to buy some more so i can paint and clear coat the wheels also the dashboard is pretty close to being finished, so i may spry it with bedliner.

Sorry to hear that the gas shock went. Hope the oil it sprayed on your bodywork does not cause problems with the new paint, when you start on it!

Tomorrow, i'll have to buy some Nitro thinner, and wash the entire site with it, an do that couple of times i hate to have problems with the new paint.

Last night i mark and center pop the holes for this tool, it is a plate to hold a dial indicator to set the valve clearance on the little Niva. This morning i started by drilling all the holes with 3,2mm drill then tried going directly to 8mm on the slowest speed my cheap drill press has and it spins the belt, i've tension the belt as tight as it will go and still spins, so i used a 6 mm drill first then 8 mm, the drill press progressively got better but is still junk in my book. I need to drill 8 more small holes and 5 holes to 17 mm i'll have to do them on my lathe, also i inspected the belt when i finished drilling, and the spindle end was little hot, probably from all the tension against the bearings, truthful i don't know how crap like this drill press can be sold.

Today i was still hard at work in the big garage, but the weather is not cooperating, dropped to -14 celsius and is really uncomfortable but i did managed to finish sending the dashboard prepare it and shoot it with a bedliner coating, the finish isn't the best, i think because is so cold it did not cure fast enough and become this bumpy texture, as soon as i sprayed it, i fire up 2 electric heaters and left them for couple of hours to help it dry, after drying it looks better but not what i hoped for, i'll probably shoot it again, i also sprayed half a wheel well with what was left from that can tomorrow is Christmas here so i know the stores will be closed so i went today to buy some more bedliner and other paint supplies.

Strong winds last night, broke a tree branch that fell and broke a window on my big garage and this morning when i measured the temperature i got this (-14 centigrade) so fired up my chainsaw deal with the tree branch shovel outthe snow and took my broken window to the glass place and got a new window installed, a also bought 2 more electric heaters and fired them up together with my old ones to bring the temperature in the positive, this cold weather is unusual for here and i can't wait for it to warm up so i can work on the little Niva.

Sounds like you've not only got a car from Russia, but also some of their weather! Best wishes for a comfortable place to do your work.

PS - Just for comparison ... the current weather here has been a bit of rain, current temp about 55ºF (~12ºC). Couple of nights ago we had a low around 27º (-2.6ºC) :)
