I'm thinking to myself, myself the new mill has a power drawbar, how do you tighten ER40 collets? I'm thinking I have to get R8 collets. I have a spline wrench for the drawbar now to tighten the ER. Is myself wrong? :)

I would get the basic R8 collets and then a R8 to ER40 adaptor and when space is needed you use the R8s. If not use the ER40 and it will probably be quicker then the power drawbar.

A picture would be helpful.

But, it would seem that you would need two wrenches to tighten the ER40. I assume that you have a R8 spindle, and are using R8-ER40 tool holders?

The spline wrench to hold the drawbar, and a spanner to tighten the ER40 .
I was reading searches here, if I had a fixture to tighten the ER40 I could use it with the PD.

Does you mill have a brake? You can use the break to hold the spindle when tightening the ER40. I do that with my mill when i tight my drawbar.

Mill has a mechanical lever brake which is secure enough to hold the spindle when tightening/loosening.

I forgot about that :encourage: Thank you.
