I received some new collets that are in packages with all kinds of secret sauce in this package. How do you clean the collets of all this schmutz? What is your cleaning solution and cloth of choice? Thanks

WD40 works well to clean the Cosmoline or equivalent. Mineral spirits/paint thinner will work as well. Diesel fuel, kerosene, or gasoline would work too; use3 outside and avoid open flames if you use the latter.

Humidity is not an issue here in Colorado but I assume the inside and outside of the collet should be dry and maybe some lube on the drawbar threads?

Clean and dry, with a drop of oil on the drawbar threads, and on the external and internal threads of collets like 5C that use external drawbars and internal threads for things like work stops.
