Does anyone know where I can get an R8 collet eith a 5/16th hexagon hole?
Does this animal exist?
I need to hold a holesaw arbor, and the space is too small for a drill chuck with the arbor.

Would this work? I know it's not what you asked.

Never looked for one, so can't say that they even exist. You can make a mandrel from scratch, turn one you have round (provided it isn't hollow) or find another way.

If you need a bigger mill, you know where you can come use one. I gather your big mill isn't running yet?

The 3 pz has been hooked up for less than a month now. It seems as soon as I have a spare moment, someone tears something up that my wife deems is higher priority.

Im thinking a custom R8 addapter project is in the near future.

Steve, thats still too long, but thank you gor looking. I can find 5C collets in what I need, but not R8.

I missed out on the Eeek bay 7/16" collet, so I started to make a R8 to hole saw adapter tonight.
The round skinny piece of steel in "scrap yard treasures" was grabbed just for this reason.
I got the main shank roughed in.
I'm letting it all cool until the am. Pictures soon to come!

EDM it , that's what I'm going to do soon .
Any body have one ?.

Dlane, I would love an EDM! Unfortunatly this is one of those jobs thats going to help make a thing for this part, thats going to make this other project possible, thats going to be used to do a thing that might make me a few bucks.
Since my projects have projects, that have projects in themselves, I dont have time to build an EDM.

Please keep is posted on yours tho. I may have some collets to shape when you get ready.

.you can use a matching stud to connect hole saw

How about saw cutting or grinding slots in the side of a cheap 5/16" 6-point socket and then putting the socket in a round R8 collet?
