Real quick change mill jaws

What are the best practical uses for soft jaws. I realize that it's so you don't mill into your real jaws, but if you're careful about that fact, what is the best use for soft jaws? Im curious.

One thing you can do with soft mill jaws is bore them dia of part you need to hold and then quickly remove them from vise and replace with another part. Say you have a 1 inch dia part and you want to hold on to about 1 inch of it’s length to mill a slot from the top down . If you bore part dia down about 1 inch and leave a shoulder for part to stop against. Then you can replace with another part and repeat the slot over and over. To bore jaws you should clamp a piece of stock in between jaws so they are under tension while boring. You could also bore to hold two parts.

think of them as customer fixture that mounts to a ready made clamping mechanism.
