Removing stain and mild rust from lathe ways - SB 9A

In some cases I use a flap brush wheel on a power drill on the ways. It looks like a ground way when it's clean. Be careful to use a fine wheel until you get the hang of it.

Hi Richard,

What kind of flap brush wheel? I have a lot of that sort of staining on my lathe ways. I trust you don't mean a sand paper flap wheel?

hmmmm I'm thinking Richard is sitting by the lake drinking beer instead of surfing the net. I knew he was smart, now I know he is really smart.

I wish I was at the cabin. Flying to Ohio tomorrow to teach a class. We still have openings if someone near Zanesville wants to attend. I'll give you a deal or if you have a hardship and want to come, we will figure it out. Class starts Thursday.

Hopefully the weekend after or the 10 I'll be back up there.
as far as the flap wheel. I use these. I have started with fine grit, but they plug up fast so I use course on rust and med on the rest. Once those wheels get dull you can use them as fine.
