When I got my Induma quasi Bridgeport clone it was missing the X handwheel and graduated dial on the left side of the table. I say "quasi Bridgeport clone" because if my recently departed Jet mill was a 2/3rds Bridgeport clone, this guy is a 1+1/3rd Bridgeport clone! It's a monster! Anyways, I'm not too worried about the dial right now since I'm most likely going to put a DRO on it and can make one down the road if I want. But, I did want the missing handwheel. So, I made one.
I don't really care for the full handwheel, that the Indumas typically have on both sides of the table and for the Y cross feed. I prefer the style on Bridgeports so I went with that type of design except I made the crank handle so it revolves.
Got to make my first chips on the Induma on this project! Had to mill the back side of the handle after facing the first side in the lathe when boring it.
Some people ask me what I use my Rhodes shaper for and here's a great example. Didn't have a metric keyway broach for the keyway so I used the Rhodes.
Cleaned the cobwebs off the radius cutter I made and put it to use.
Cut the extra 1/4" for the center holes off the ends and finished the balls up with a lathe file and a little emery paper. Free handed the revolving crank handle to finish things up.
Works great!
