I usually use the reply button when replying to somenes post on a thread. What is the difference between the Quote button and the Reply button?

If I use the “quote” button I can insert your exact words in a little box along with my reply….

Is there a usage difference? I think so, at times the context can be lost if there’s lots of people replying and it can not always be clear who is actually replying to what statement. Quotes eliminate that ambiguity, but they can also be unnecessarily clunky and add extra stuff to filter through. I use the “quote” if I think there may be some question as to what I’m referring but use the “reply” when I figure I can get my message posted in such quick succession that it will read like a conversation because the context is still very recent. Make sense?

When I use the "quote" feature, I like to remove anything that I'm not replying to, to help focus the reply. It also reduces redundancy of unnecessary, clunky and extra stuff. I also like to indicate that I've "snipped" out portions of the quoted text, as above.

Reply button
You can also highlight specific text like I did above and it will let you quote that line and not include everything else. It gives you the option of quote and reply, if you press reply, it adds it in the editing window. If I click on quote, it is added it to a multi line quote function that you access using the “insert quotes” button next to the attach files button at the bottom of the editing window. In there, you select which quote you want to insert. That is a good feature if you want to quote multiple people, or multiple sections of a response.

I hit the reply button to answer, which puts your post up here for reference.

When I want to add a second person's quote, I use the "+Quote" button, and it lets me respond to multiple people's replys in my single reply. In the reply box, just put the cursor where you want it to be, and use the "Add Quote" button.

If I wanted to reply to a specific thing within someone's reply, I can highlight the specific item I want to reply to, and the forum will show me a grey box with "Reply", or "Quote" options. The "reply" option is just like the one on every post you might respond to, except it only quotes the highlighted text. Or the "Quote" option adds only the highlighted snippet to the multi-quote feature...

Without quoting anyone, those are good to know. I've been going to more work than I needed.
