There are times when I mark the barrel for the shoulder I need to turn to. With my eyes not so good up close I have to use a loupe to watch the mark as I manually run the cutter to it. With my loupe the focal distance is sort of short that I am always have to stay alert to not get too close to the chuck.
I just happen to have an old auto zoom lens that goes 70-210, F4-F22 that auto zoom died. It is not worth sending it for repair so I thought it might work as long distance variable loupe. At F4, I could zoom and focus on the mark good a distance longer than my old loupe. And it works quite well.
I may make a short eye cup for it just enough to get away from the bayonet mount.
Maybe sometime ago I might have shared this, if it were the case, well, you got it again.
