i am looking for some holders for some carbite cutters i am getting i was wondering do i need right handed or left handed tool holder i have a metal lathe i will be using

Left hand is the most common.

Right hand is the most common.

You use right hand when cutting from right to left (towards the chuck).

You use left hand when cutting from left to right (away from the chuck).

The perspective used is on which side of the work piece is being cut. The work is the focus, not the tool.

Sure, right cuts go to the left, left cuts go to the right. Got it.

Then remember cut left(right hand) cut right (left handed)
It’s viewed from the backside of the lathe looking at the operator.
Throw the lathe in reverse and you have to use lefthanders. Getting sets of each is good for situations that comes about.
