Hi,
I’m learning to use a lathe lately. I have a taig lathe but it turn out be be too small. I need something stronger. So I bought some parts off a Rivett lathe. Not sure the model but it seem to be 505. I don’t want the bed because it’s too long while I only have a small space (perfect size would be 24”. My question is can I use it on other brand bed such as Pratt, Elgin or Cataract?
Thanks

The geometry of the ways and bearing surfaces will be different.
You could shorten the bed you have by cutting it off with a band saw.
My second lathe was an ancient 16" SB which was shortened at the headstock end and everything moved forward, more or less successfully.
IIRC I had about 18" between centers on that machine...
Ultimately, you may be best served by selling everything you have and buying a different machine.

Thank you for your advice. I thought they all follow some kind of standard dimension. I decided to get the bed from the vendor to complete the set. It’s 38”. I need to rearrange the space.
I plan to build a wooden bench for it. Give give me your thoughts on it.
Thanks
