Hello,

Do any of you know how hard the T nuts that come with these tool posts are? I'm setting up the CAM job to machine the T nut to fit my compound and I'm using FSWizard to set up my feeds and speeds. Right now I've selected Low Carbon Steel at 30-40Rc.

Any input would be appreciated,

Chris

Try filing it, if it files easily, proceed on course.

There almost equal to butter. Pretty much C20 or 1020 grade steel. They are not hard or even 41xx material.

OK, that's good to know. I bought a BXA tool post a few years back and FWIR it was hard and I chewed up a couple end mills.

That's interested, I haven't run into that. All of my Aloris brands one;s were semi-soft, and the couple of Asian one;s were soft too. Never know anymore.

Well, switching from Rc30-40 to 1018 triples my MRR so I really hope that is correct. I'll start out with a slow feed rate and ramp it up.

My order showed up this afternoon. I tested the nut with a file and it's soft.

Thanks guys.
