Shop Press

Working on the press arm.

SP19.JPG
Got the ends welded on. There will be UHMW PE on the inner surface of the ends to ride on the columns.
The ram will be screwed into an adapter that bridges from the underside of the channel to the plates welded to the face.

SP22.JPG SP23.JPG
Threaded the adapter with 3/4-10 to accept the ram.
That way the ram can be replaced with specific tools as needed.
Only wish I had thought through the material for the adapter. Putting 3/4-10 threads into 4340 pre-hardened material was not a lot of fun.
Ram should be easier. I will single point the threads. It is made from Stress-proof so should cut nicely.
A little more each day.

Continued work on the press arm.
SP24.JPG
Made up the first of the tools. Just a simple ram with 3/4-10 threads single pointed (way easier than putting that tap into the arm!)
I can now make other tools that will either attach to the threaded hole or will fit over the ram.

Scoping out the distances with the hydraulic press for fitting the springs and the platform for the press to sit on.
