I have gone thru a lot of trucks, When I am done with them there aint much left.
My first truck was a '73 Dodge 8 passenger van. It turned out to be inadequate for towing a race car on a trailer. So I found a 75 Chevy 1 ton cargo van with a cracked block PO had changed a water pump and test ran it with just water and thought it would good for one night since it was hot at 10pm. Not when it is 8°F out. It split the block from freeze plug to freeze plug on both sides. I welded it up in the truck and it held for 3 years of heavy towing.
I sold that for an '89 Chevy 3/4 ton Silverado, mt first P/U truck, It was EX cab and 8' box 4x4 and pulled the race car like it was not even there.
Once I got out of racing, I traded that in on a new '94 suburban 4x4, It was the best car I ever owned, But I quickly realized I really needed a truck.
So traded that in on a '96 Silverado, EX cab, 8' box 4x4 1/2 ton, I put that poor truck thru hell for 17 years and 325K miles. I could not even guess how many times it was completely airborne while playing off road. I finally sold it because it never gave me a problem, Nearly everything on it was still original and I was worried that at some point soon something should start wearing out.
So I found my current truck, 2011 Silverado, EX cab, 8' box, 4x4, I found this was 2 years old with 8K miles on it for half the price of new. It now has lust over 100K so it is almost broken in.
