Decided to set up my Burke #4 as a vertical milling machine today. After inspecting the universal head, I can’t figure out what the spindle size is for collets to hold end mills. OR, if some parts are missing... bought the machine at an estate sale, disassembled last year. So nobody to ask locally.

The unit looks like it will take some sort of collet and draw bar assembly to hold end mills. But the major and minor ID don’t match any B&S or MT dimension chart that I looked at. (Looks like the drive arbor is size B&S 9)

Anybody recognize what I have here, and what I need to hold the end mills??

Yes, it uses 3C collets and a drawbar. I made the drawbar for mine and posted a print to make on here somewhere a few years ago. It is easy to make.

Mark and Gregg, thanks! Yikes, now all I have to do is find more unobtainium.

Well, that was easy. Ordered three off eBay.

Looks like the overarm support, drawbar, and drive arbor is missing. The overarm should have an adjustable cam to line up spindle with overarm. I tried selling mine on eBay a week ago and no dice. Market must be getting soft.
