SOUTH BEND LATHE SER #

Hi I'm trying to get a parts manual for this south bend lathe, called Grizzly and because its pre 1947 theirs no letters after the number I'm hoping someone can help as this lathe is not cutting true , when turning down a stock in lathe its about 15 thous at head stock tried to adjust tail stock but my friend said he took the bearing caps off, and might of screwed up I'm just trying to help him out if some one could help that be well appreciated, the tag on head stock says DPC-182 HS ( Defense Plane Corporation ) its 9" swing 4 1/2 bed number on bed 41804 ( no letter )
