South Bend lathe serial question??

Hey all!!
So i just aquire this SB lathe at a very very reasonable price of Free99!!
S/N 24031 KAR7
I understand the "24031" portion but im not too sure on the KAR or just confuse on breaking it down.
Any inputs is appreciated.
