South bend lathe

By the way....I’m with John. I think you should keep them. I’m guessing once you learn how to use a lathe...you’re going to love it.
I too turned wrenches most of my life. Did the dealerships for a while and then opened my own shop. I liked it because I love fixing mechanical things.
That said.... I can honestly say I missed my calling. I truly love using machine tools. I would have loved to be a tool a die maker. I think it would have been a passion. I just regret not investing in a lathe years ago when I had my shop. But I was afraid of not being able to learn how to use these big hunks of iron and was too lazy...and busy to take a class at community college.
That’s not a problem now because today we have YouTube. Even have Mr Pete aka Tubalcain who now has hundreds of posted videos instructing “shop class” online.
Really great stuff on YouTube to teach us hobby machinist. I really think you should think twice before you sell that tool collection of your dad.
