Specially ground tool?

Does this boring bar use a common shaped cutter or a specially ground one? And how to shape/grind the cutter? The angle of the tool holder part seems odd to me. Many thanks for any help.

That's probably for a round cutter. I have used broken center drills as boring tools.

That is an Everede boring bar, I have a couple. They take a triangular cross section insert that can be HSS or carbide.

Thanks, that answers the question for sure. I've had this for several years but couldn't figure out the tool geometry. It's very Stout and almost too big for !y 14x40 lathe
