Steamtown in Scranton PA is a museum worth visiting. They have roundhouse and shop tours that are very interesting and they also have a Big Boy on static display. Another good museum is: The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, in Strasburg. Both places offer short train rides for a small fee.

Thank you, I like steam powered trains. They were on their way out of service when I was a kid. My Dad grew up with steam, he liked their sound. Each one had a different pitch whistle He grew up on a farm near the tracks and like to hear them blow their whistles as the approach the crossing.

I like this video showing the different tradesmen needed to keep the engines running.
