Am looking to build a Stirling engine, but am not sure where to start.

Does anyone have any plans for one that you liked? where would one get such plans? do you have photos of engines you built based on plans (purchased or shop made)?

Please post away, lets see what's available out there, and what you've got made (maybe start a Stirling engine thread here)...

Jan Ridders has lots of nice little engines. Plans aren't available for download, but he has a link where you can E-mail him to request plans.

Here is one of Jan's engines posted with plans on another site. Seems like they got permission from him, but I am not 100% sure. This is one of the LTD engines.

I have also been thinking building a stirling engine. I like the models with the test-tube hot end, so you can see the displacer action.

Here is also a very simple one from MyfordBoy

It uses a sweets canister for the body, and steel pop rivets for the bearing pivots, which is an awesome idea.

Thanks!

I've also come upon Jan Ridders website:

he has available plans that he is willingly sharing (how nice is that!). I got his egg cup engine plan, and will start looking into making that one (bill of materials and availability). really like that design.

My understanding is that he used to offer them for download, but the bandwidth got to be too much. He has a lot of videos of this engines on youtube (I think the channel is Heatgas). I really like the little 1.20 euro engine. Very cool.
