Hello,

Here is my Stirling's Engine (alpha type). It is, for the moment, the best Stirling I made.

One years later, it became that. A Stirling engine pressurized and water cooled.

And 6 month later, it has been turned in a 4 cylinders.

And here is his little brother (which is bigger). It run not as well but it is not at the end of his evolution. I designed it to be pressurized from the start. It was not the case for the first. So this one, normally, will be pressurized with helium. In the video below, it is not yet pressurized, it was its firsts runs. I will make that this winter. It is often in winter that I work on this subject.

This little engines are useless. I made them to study them. My ultimate goal is to made one which is enough powerfull to produce electricity for my home in cogeneration and which is not expensive to make. It is a long way project.

very cool. really want to get into making these.

I would like to learn more about building one to produce electricity! Have you considered using heat from the sun?

Very nice!

How much power output can you get from these engines?

No I have not considered the sun for the moment. It is the best source of energy, sure. But a bit hard to do for me for the moment. It is necessary to follow it. When I will have made an enough powerfull engine, I will study this subject.

But for the moment, the goal is well to succed in make a powerful engine. When I say "powerful", 2Kw would be fantastic . And it is a goal very very hard to achieve at home. It is strongly likely that I will not reach it. Stirling engine seems very easy. But it is much more easy to make a 4 stroke engine. When you want have the power, you need to pressurize strongly the engine. So it must resist to pressure. It must be perfectly sealed too. No leak. And it must stay sealed despite the heat and for thousands of hours of operation. This is one result that only big firms have reached for the moment.

I don't know how powerfull are my little engines. A few Watt, probably. I plan to make a test bench to measure the power of the last I made. I hope to have enough free time to make this this winter.

Those are very cool.!!! I wouldn't say "useless". I'm wondering if a sprocket can be put on the flywheel and hooked up to a motorcycle transmission if the engine was built to a larger scale. Just wondering/saying... Excellent project.
