Erik, thanks for the link. It's always good to learn something about the history of this lathe. I always figured mine hadn't seen much use. The metric gears are still sealed in the original plastic bags.
The spindle bushings are adjusted by screwing the two outer collars on each location together. You'll need a pair of large pin spanners for that. The actual bushings should close in on the spindle. Don't over-tighten.
I made a thread dial some years ago, but I can't find any pictures of it right now. It actually has an ABS gear I cut as a test - works just fine.
