About a week or so ago, I was asking questions about either the Sherline 3054S and the Taig #2035 boring head, I would like to try. Welp, my Taig #2035 boring head arrived today.

This all started the next day, I was talking to my cousin about what everyone had said, this was while I was doing some head work, for his insane (my word) go-kart project. As I was reassembling his engine, he was ordering me a boring head (personally I thought he was viewing Asian porn), so in addition to the case of Mt Dew Code Red (at times I work cheap), the work was paid for by the boring head purchase.

Insane go-kart, chrome-moly frame, 350cc Rotax random twin engine, 7 speed gear box, top speed 175 mph+

The Taig boring head does not have the adjusting screw, that the Sherline has, other than that it seems very similar, to what I seen. Is it super technical??, No. Is it well made??, Seems so. Will it work for what I want it for??, Probably. We shall see, if not it did not cost me a dime. It came with two small boring bars, whether, they are useful or were shipping box ballast, at this point is unknown.

The problem with the Taig boring head is that it's made out of aluminum. I had one break when I was boring some steel with it. Taig replaced it, but I'm not going to repeat using it in still.

I bought a little Criterion head from eBay and intend to make a 3/8" shank for use with the Taig.

How about a photo of the Kart?
Don’t think the porn would fly here.
My wife always jokes about those creepy old men in a dark garage staring leeringly at pictures of old, chromed cars and engines.

I'm afraid to ask for pictures of the kart after my last statement.

Thank you,

yes, I see it aluminum and is a light-weight piece, I have multiple boring bar hears, I just wanted a small light-weight Head for a couple of real small jobs, while not perfect it should be up to the job.

Criterion heads are the reason, I now refuse to buy used tooling off of EBay, the last one I got was junk, very long story short, I lost money and have an unusable head.

In my limited experience, boring in my mill (full size knee), I have a Shars 2" boring head attached to a NT30 taper holder.
I've almost given up boring on the mill.
I know rigidity is crucial and the cutting tool needs to be sharp and on center without a positive lead angle.
I wish you well on your search.
I'm thinking about a Criterion as well.
