My friends international.. TD-7 needed a rebuild on the engine, upon removal of said engine the bell housing vibration mounts were cracked all the way around and no rubber on the pins at all.....these are cups that are pressed into pockets on each side of the bell housing....both mounts were shot....dealer said those dreaded words...NO LONGER AVAILABLE now what do you do??? Checked cat, komatsu ,deere to see if we could modify their mounts...NOPE.....so I said let's Make Em.....got 2 axle isolator dampeners from heavy truck garage....cut one end off and cut the other end to length....the cup that gets pressed in was next....the O.D and length no problem....the inside took me some thought.....got it....made the I'd .050 smaller than the isolator bushings OD. Cut 3 grooves on the inside of the cup with the back of the groove tapered to the rear but sharp on the edge facing out....grooves are .060 deep...same principal as a fish hook....slide in...cant come out....trapped.!! Made a tapered die to fit over the cup to squeeze that isolator bushing down to the I'd. Size of the cup.....drill a small hole on the bottom of the cup to let air escape....slather tapered die up with Dawn dish soap and drive them home with the 150 ton press....no it didnt take 150 tons but just gave it enough to keep it moving and you will feel it bottom out in the pocket...you have to make 2 pushers to get the rubber all the way thru the tapered die....a big one to get the rubber into the die, and another to go thru the small end and seated into the cup....I had to make a new clamp block with a saw cut thru half to pinch the isolator steel end...the od. Of the pin had to have a sleeve shrunk on to mate with the clamp block that's on each side of the bell housing and bolted to the frame rails the pin has a hole thru it and I oriented the holes vertically so the pinch clamp would bite down on metal and not the hole....the clamps were a little thick so I face milled 1/8 inch off of the faces to get them right....dozer has about 100 hours on the new mounts of heavy use and they're holding up very well
