I'm a journeyman machinist / toolmaker of 43 years now . I don't ask many questions regarding this . I'm a newbie - 5 years when it comes to electrical stuff . We in the trade refer this as SES . Secret electrical $hit . I have no " E " in my website name , make note . Yes I can wire up a socket , but industrial stuff scares me .

My point . I have some vintage electrical things that I would love to have repaired . I google and get not so many results on the matter . As an old timer I do realize that what I wish to repair is below todays standards , and also believe there are many on this H-M site who are well up to the task . I think it would be a great upgrade to the site to include the other side " electrical technicians " in the website name . Electricity is not only related to machinery . H-M , the Go To Site . :)

I will post my non related questions on the nightimers thread .

I am all the way with you on this one. I know the basics, but when they start talking about relays and what else then there is a snow signal coming up in my brain and the message is quite coming through. Sometimes I really try to understand it,but with no joy. So if I understand you right that you want to introduce a electrical section to H-M,then I am all for it. Now that I have said it,I want to check if one doesn't already exist

I see there is an all about electrical section. Sorry my bad.

My son is an electrician but knows nothing about electric motors or circuitry. It takes a specialist to know this stuff.
I know we have electrical engineers in the group.
I think you have a good idea Dave (mmcmdl)

I’m an electrical engineer, but 12V is high voltage for me as I mostly work in computer chips. Happy to help where I can though.

I’m an automation guy. I do motors, drives, servos, PLCs, discrete circuits, process control, lil’ bit of everything.

Studied control theory and semiconductor level electronics in college. I am happy to contribute to any questions that I might be able to answer.

Never knew there was an electrical section on this forum. :D

Electricity and electronics have been a hobby and part of my profession for most of my life. I even have some formal education on the subject, though never earned a degree. I have a fairly high understanding of building/shop electrical and machine control wiring/circuits. More importantly, I know what I don't know. So basically, I'm happy to help and won't steer you wrong.

I repair all kinds of machines. Currently disecting a Fanuc wire EDM. High voltage scares me too, always very careful around it. Will try to help if i can.
